I completed MD degree at National Taiwan University and graduated in the year of 1985. During 1987 to 1991, I underwent a 4-year rehabilitation residential training program in the National Taiwan University Hospital. After completing the residency, I continued working as an attending physician in the National Taiwan University Hospital. During this time, I studied with Professor I-Nan Lien in the field of pulmonary rehabilitation and also worked with Professor Adrienne Perlman, who came to Taiwan to speak on swallowing rehabilitation in 1991. From the year 1992-1993, I was posted to the Medical College of New Jersey in the United States and studied pulmonary rehabilitation under the guidance of Dr. John Bach. I returned to Taiwan in the following year and has since continued his academic career in the National Taiwan University Hospital, working mainly in the field of pulmonary rehabilitation and management of dysphagia. In 1995, I started to involve in the field of sonographic examination of musculoskeletal system. In 2002, I became an assistant professor of National Taiwan University colleague of Medicine, became an associate professor in 2006, and promoted to a professor in 2010.

My interest of researches is focus on (1) modifying the videofluorographic swallowing study (VFSS) to make it more objectively and practically (2) developing the effective management of dysphagia especially in the dysfunction of cricopharyngeus muscle (3) improving the accuracy of ultrasonographic examination in the diagnosis of musculoskeletal disorders.

I currently am the Professor and Director of Physical and Medicine Rehabilitation Department. My past research primarily focused on the application of ultrasound in musculoskeletal disease and evaluation and management of dysphagia, and I am also the author of the text book: Musculoskeletal Ultrasound. In addition, he was invited to write the text book of APMR, Chapter VII: Ultrasound diagnosis ( DeLisa’s Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation; Fifth Edition, Wolters Kluwer, Lippincott Williams & Wilkins).
